The first post on a brand new blog is always awkward.
I’ve been here a few times. With the blog about theme parks I write with my husband, and with a few ‘passion projects’ that have fallen by the wayside over the years.
But here I am again, creating a space to write about my life on the internet.
I guess I should start by introducing myself. So hi, I’m Charlotte. A 31 year old from Yorkshire with a passion for Disney theme parks and a complicated relationship with McDonald’s.
Honestly, the drive to start this blog came from two different places.
- I’ve become more confident putting my words out there into the ether since starting a blog with my husband. I was always so worried that people would read my words and judge me. But honestly, Carl and I have told most of the people we know that we sometimes like to write about theme parks and roller coasters in our spare time, and absolutely no-one bats an eyelid. In fact, I’m not sure many of them have even read it.
- I signed up to Slimming World and needed a space to record my journey. A blog seemed like the most logical place.
Why living with balance?
I’ve actually owned this domain for a few years in the vein hope that I’d one day become some sort of zen-like figure and write all about it. Sadly that didn’t quite work out.
But then I thought, who wants to read the thoughts of someone perfect, anyway? I want to write this blog for people like me. People who need to eat a little healthier, move a little more, sort that damn spare room out, and leave enough time on an evening to slap a bit of moisturiser on.
I don’t need to wait until I’m perfect, I can be perfectly imperfect and still try to find balance in my life.
So that’s what this is. A place for me – a lazy girl – to navigate through my thirties while trying to find more structure and organisation in my life.
I don’t exactly have a fleshed out plan for this blog. But I hope all fellow lazy girls can join along as I clumsily try to find my way around being a bit less of a shit storm in life.
Oh, and I want this blog (and my eventual Instagram) to be bright, colourful and fun. I’ve done a bit of research into other simple living blogs out there and they are all so… earthy and green.
I’m not really an earthy OR green person, so I’m determined to show that you can do simple living in very brightly coloured style.
So is simple living achievable for a lazy overspender? Let’s find out shall we…
